The hand-painted cream Talavera tiles are made using a traditional technique (the history of Talavera ceramics) in the town of Dolores Hidalgo in the Guanajuato region of Mexico. Talavera tiles, often also called Majolica, or simply Azulejos in Spanish, are extremely popular not only in Mexico, but also all over the world, due to their unique character. Manual painting of tiles and the characteristics of the technique itself mean that the individual colors on the tiles are not uniform, the edges are not always perfect, and this makes the tiles look rustic and original. Each tile is unique and in shades of beige The tiles are resistant to abrasion and even with deeper scratches, the pattern is still visible because the individual colors are included in the glazing. Each tile is first covered with a primer - the base color, and then the beige color is applied separately. After firing, the tiles obtain their final color and extraordinary resistance.
