Hand-painted cherry Talavera tiles are made using a traditional technique (History of Talavera Ceramics) in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico. Talavera tiles, often called Majolica or simply Azulejos in Spanish, are extremely popular not only in Mexico but also worldwide due to their unique character. Hand-painting the tiles and the characteristics of the technique itself mean that the individual colors on the tiles are not uniform, and the edges are not always perfectly shaped, giving the tiles a rustic and original look. Each tile is unique and comes in shades of burgundy.

The tiles are abrasion-resistant, and even with deeper scratches, the pattern remains visible because the individual colors are incorporated into the glazing. Each tile is first primed with a base color, and then each currant color of the pattern is applied separately. After firing, the tiles acquire their final color and exceptional durability.
