Like no other material, copper is capable of reducing the number of micro-organisms on its surface, such as bacteria, fungi (including mould) and viruses. People have long known the bactericidal effect of copper. Already the ancient Egyptians used its properties to disinfect drinking water and wounds. Copper, as a raw material used for the production of interior design elements, is an interesting alternative to synthetic materials which are disgraced for ecological reasons. Copper provides incredible durability (more than a century of useful life!), and its natural origin makes copper products completely recyclable.
