Turquesa Deslavado (Ramírez) blue - Single-colour Talavera tiles

Hand-painted Talavera azure tiles are made using a traditional technique (history of Talavera ceramics) in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico. Talavera tiles, often called Majolica or simply Azulejos in Spanish, are extremely popular not only in Mexico but also worldwide due to their unique character. Hand-painting the tiles and the characteristics of the technique itself cause the individual colors on the tiles to be uneven, and the edges are not always perfectly shaped, giving the tiles a rustic and original look. The tiles are abrasion-resistant, and even with deeper scratches, the pattern remains visible because the individual colors are incorporated into the glaze.
