Large ceramic mug Chocolatera
Ceramic mug produced in Mexico with the dimensions of 12.5 cm diameter and 10 cm height.
Characteristic for Talaver's ceramics are patterns referring to flower symbolism, decorated with colors in shades of orange, yellow and blue. The dye applied to the mug has a dense structure, which gives a visual effect similar to 3D. A thick layer of enamel protects the mug from mechanical damage, including abrasion.
The diameter of the base of the mug is much smaller than the edge, so that the heat is not quickly dissipated to the ground. The craftsmanship of the mug makes the product unique. Apart from its obvious functional features, the mug is an ideal decorative element.
Ceramics in Talavera style
This way of producing ceramics was brought from Spain to Mexico in the early 16th century. Talaver's method, in a nutshell, consists in shaping the product in an artisanal way, firing it and then decorating it with ornaments referring to the symbols of flowers, buds, stems and leaves. The next steps are the application of a thick layer of enamel and re-burning. This way of production protects the faience from discoloration and mechanical damage. Already a few Mexican decorative elements can significantly warm up the room and give it an individual style.
Talavera ceramics is a very fashionable and used decorative elements of the room. In addition to figurines, mugs and cups, Mexican one-color tiles, patterned or patchwork are also valued.
