This Mexican Talavera Tile Patchwork set was carefully put together by our team. We spent a lot of time selecting the tiles from hundreds of patterns of tiles to create a Mexican patchwork that is consistent in style and color, yet is a patchwork of different tiles.
We hope, we are almost sure that our Talavera patchwork will bring a smile to your face whenever you see it. You really can't get bored with these tiles because you will discover them, tile by tile, for a long time.
The set of 30 tiles consists of 6 patterns. Thanks to mineral colors, the Talavera patchwork is abrasion resistant and even with deeper scratches the pattern is still visible because the colors are in the glazing. Each tile is first covered with a primer paint and then each color is laid separately according to the pattern. After firing, the tiles get their final colors as well as high resistance.
Hand-painted Mexican Talavera tiles are made using a traditional technique in a place Dolores Hidalgo in the Guanajuato region of Mexico. Talavera type tiles, also known as Majolica or simply Azulejos from Spanish, are extremely popular not only in Mexico but all over the world, thanks to their unusual character, design and warm colors of the south. Painting the tiles by hand and the nature of the technique make that the individual colors differ in shade (for example, yellow can have a shade from light to almost orange), the edges are not always in the ideal shape, thanks to which the tiles acquire the rustic character and originality. Each tile is unique.
