Verde Brillante malachite - Single-colour Talavera tiles

Hand-painted malachite Talavera tiles are made using traditional techniques (history of Talavera ceramics) in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico. Talavera tiles, often called Majolica or simply Azulejos in Spanish, are extremely popular not only in Mexico but also worldwide due to their unique character. The hand-painting process and the inherent nature of the technique result in uneven colors and uneven edges, giving the tiles a rustic and original look. Each tile is unique and in a shade of bottle green.

The tiles are abrasion-resistant, and even with deeper scratches, the pattern remains visible because the individual colors are incorporated into the glazing. Each tile is first primed with a base color, and then each emerald color of the pattern is applied separately. After firing, the tiles acquire their final color and exceptional durability.
